Do you do a number of different jobs to have flexible working hours?
Have you gone into Business with a relative?

Submitted 23rd February 2010

I'm writing a feature on mums who do a number of different jobs in a bid to find flexible working hours. Maybe they've set up their own company and do some freelance work or part time shifts elsewhere.
I'm looking for some interesting case studies, who'd be happy to talk about their experiences in a woman's magazine.

I'm also looking for women who have gone into business with a relative (perhaps their sister or mother in law ?) , or an acquaintance such as their husband's ex wife - to talk about their experiences.

If you can help with either of the above please contact me by email.

Have you used crowdfunding to finance your business?

Submitted 23.2.10

I am writing a feature for Company magazine on crowdfunding and I'm looking for a UK businesswoman aged 18-35 who has used this method of raising finance for their business.  Crowdfunding is literally 'funding by a crowd of people'.  Typically the entrepeneur will offer shares or incentives to many small investors rather than having one or two major financiers.  This type of funding is usually raised online.

To give an example, I have a fashion designer who has posted her designs online and people are investing in her - its £10 a share and when she reaches her target she'll make the collection with the shareholders getting a slice of the profits.

Anyone interested in participating will need to be interviewed and photographed.  For more information please contact Lee Mannion on 07980 261337 or leemannion@hotmail.com

NEW ITV 1 SERIES WILL TRACE LONG LOST RELATIVES

Submitted 23rd February 2010

Are you trying to find a member of your family?  Has your search gone cold? Or do you just not know where to begin?  You may be a birth parent, adopted person, a separated sibling, estranged parent or someone who has grown up in care - hoping to be reunited with lost relatives.

From Wall to Wall - the makers of the hit family history series Who Do You Think You Are? and BBC ONE drama New Tricks, a new documentary programme will aim to reunite long lost families.

The aim of the programme is to help people who would love to find a long lost relative and hopefully re-unite them with the person they are looking for – birth parents who gave their child up for adoption 20 or 30 years ago and who would love to find them, for example, or siblings separated as young children who want to find the brother or sister they have never known but have thought about every day. We hope to make a series that is not only positive and inspirational but that makes family reunion more accessible and empowers others who are perhaps daunted by the prospect of finding a family member.

Each programme will follow the story of two different people who want to be reunited with a relative.  The programmes will explore the issues involved when families separate in a sensitive and non judgmental way, as well as exploring the lengths some go to reunite and find answers.  By featuring positive stories about the search and reunion process we hope to make family reunion more accessible and inspire people who have long thought about tracing a relative to take the next step.

If you are over the age of 18, have experienced family seperation and now feel ready to seek areunion then please get in touch. Visit: www.walltowall.co.uk/findmyfamily.aspx   Or follow the link to the application form at www.walltowall.co.uk

Dragons’ Den

Submitted 16th December 2009

Entrepreneurs from across the country once again have a chance to make their business dreams come true by appearing on Dragons’ Den. If you’re genuinely seeking investment for your business idea or invention, we’d like to hear from you.

Last series saw some of the most diverse range of inventions and business ideas receive offers of investment from the multi-millionaire investors. All the Dragons were won over by entrepreneur Sharon Wright and the simplicity of her cable wiring device; Rupert Sweet-Escott went into business with James Caan who was impressed with his unique range of aviation designs and prototypes; and Carol Savage chose to accept Deborah Meaden's offer of a cash injection into her tasty new food networking website. In fact, when the Den finally closed for business an incredible 15 entrepreneurs had managed to convince the fearsome financiers, they were worthy of their cash.

The rules are simple: entrepreneurs ask for a cash investment in return for equity in their business. However, they must get at least the amount they ask for or they will walk away with nothing. The Dragons are prepared to listen to a pitch for any kind of business but they must be convinced that it will make money.

As demonstrated by the investments in the last seven series, ideas, businesses and products that meet some or all of the following criteria stand a good chance of securing the Dragons’ interest:

·          A Unique Selling Point: a product that serves a need like nothing else.

·          Scalability: something that can be up scaled to make real money.

·          Route to Market: the clear way the product can be sold and marketed.

·          Mutually Beneficial Arrangement: just what will the Dragons get out of it?

·          Exit Strategy: a plan of how the entrepreneur/Dragon will exit and make money.

The BBC is currently searching for Britain’s best entrepreneurs and will be auditioning throughout the coming months. We want to hear from anyone who thinks they’ve got what it takes to enter the Dragons’ Den.

If you would like an application form please send an e-mail to dragonsden@bbc.co.uk or visit www.bbc.co.uk/dragonsden

We’re looking for people willing to embark on a journey that sees them try and put silence into their every day, busy lives, and learn what to do with it when it is there.

You should be genuinely open to exploring silence, prayer and spirituality on a personal level.

The process will involve an 8-day supervised retreat in a Christian study centre. Once you return home there will be a period of ongoing guidance by your spiritual mentor, as you attempt to translate what you have learnt into daily life.

This series is being made by the producers of ‘The Monastery’.

BBC Radio 5 Live - 'What makes you exhausted'

We are doing a debate next Thursday night on BBC Radio 5Live asking the question - "What makes you exhausted". We've got the author of a book who's offered tips on how to shake that 'constantly drained feeling'.

We're looking for a businesswoman who leads a particularly hectic life and does feel exhausted and could tell us how exhaustion affects their life.

Ironically, we'd need the guest to be available between midnight and 1am and need them to go to a BBC Studio. We can offer transport to and from a nearby BBC studio if need be.

If anyone's interested could they contact randip.panesar@bbc.co.uk

Having a Baby?  BBC documentary: The 7 ages of pregnancy.

Submitted 8th July 2009

I work for a television company called Renegade Pictures and we are currently making a programme for the BBC about pregnancy.  The documentary will be a warm thoughtful look at pregnancy today, in which our expectant presenter will meet 7 women having a baby at different times of their lives - and with equally diverse lifestyles.  We're really keen that this documentary will explore the wide range of options that are available to women, providing a facinating insight into this very special time.

We are currently looking to contact women who are having a baby this summer/autumn and I was wondering whether you might be able to help us here. I wondered whether you could help us spread the word to expectant mums by either forwarding on some information if you have a mailing list, posting something on your website, or if it’s easier I can post you some flyers which you can distribute or put up? I’m attaching some information which can be forwarded on to mums-to-be if it’s helpful.

If you’re interested in being involved in the filming there may be opportunities for us to film if we feature someone who has come through yourself – it would be great to discuss this further at a later date when we have made a bit more progress with the production.

If you have any questions I will be more than happy to provide further information. You can contact me at this email address or call me on: 020 7479 4204.

Many thanks in advance, we really would be extremely grateful if you can help us in any way at all with this and are very appreciative of your time.

Who Does What? A brand new series for the BBC all about households and the universal themes of family life.

Submitted 7th October 2009

talkbackThames have produced a wide variety of hugely successful television programmes for all the channels, such as Grand Designs, The Apprentice and The X Factor.

We are now producing a brand new series for the BBC all about households and the universal themes of family life. Who really does the lion’s share of the domestic chores? How do couples really split the parenting responsibilities? Who really works the hardest to keep the family running smoothly?

We are looking for honest and frank families to take part in the series. We would love to find a household where the woman works, either full or part time, and has to find that all important work / home balance. These sorts of issues often cause tension and we want to talk to people who are willing to tell us how it really is. The show is now in production.

The basic premise is that we are looking for couples who would like to find out just WHO DOES WHAT in their relationship and make changes for the better.   It's a show for every couple that's ever argued over who does the washing up, sorting the garden out or doing the shopping and the programme will be based on facts and statistics.  The programme forensically breaks down how roles are delegated within the relationship so you can see how to make your relationship even better.   I can't stress enough that this is a factual show with the sole aim of a positive outcome.

I hope you can help and I look forward to talking to you.
