WIBN Stamford member, Helen Walton represents the charity Alternatives. When Lindsey Preston came up with the idea of holding a Swish Party to raise money for Alternatives, the Stamford pregnancy and advice centre, £240 was raised and a 'fun' evening was enjoyed, which involved taking armfuls of clothes home! Stamford is now a well-established pregnancy advice centre, offering support to any person struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, offering free, confidential and impartial advice. In the photo: Lindsey Reed, Helen Walton (founder of Alternatives), Alison Hutchinson and Sharon Macaulay.
Commenting on the achievement Linda Juland Chief Executive said, "We are very proud to have achieved this award made more important by the fact that this is what our staff are saying about their experience of working at CAN. We recognise that supporting staff is central to providing the best service to people recovering from drug and alcohol use " For the photograph are from left to right: Glenn Dimelow from Best Companies, Linda Juland and Jane Lawrence (HR Manager).

In April 2011 our WIBN franchisee, Barbara Hodgson gave away 6 membership places in each of her WIBN groups to a charity, to help improve the profile of local charities and raise money for causes, paying their membership & meeting fees for one year. The membership, which is worth over £450, was decided by nominations from women within the group and the charity with the most votes was awarded the free membership. "Members at WIBN Kettering have been very supportive with their time and ideas", said Ellen, "It has raised my confidence to talk to people about Battens & raise the awareness, to get people to help with the charity." Ellen Bletsoe of the Batten Disease Family Association (BFDA) set up in 1998. The charity was nominated by Rachel Barnes of Rachel Barnes Photography.
