WIBN Stamford member, Helen Walton represents the charity Alternatives. When Lindsey Preston came up with the idea of holding a Swish Party to raise money for Alternatives, the Stamford pregnancy and advice centre, £240 was raised and a 'fun' evening was enjoyed, which involved taking armfuls of clothes home!

Stamford is now a well-established pregnancy advice centre, offering support to any person struggling with an unplanned pregnancy, offering free, confidential and impartial advice.

WIBN supports local charities...

In April 2011 our WIBN franchisee, Barbara Hodgson gave away 6 membership places in each of her WIBN groups to a charity, to help improve the profile of local charities and raise money for causes, paying their membership & meeting fees for one year.

The membership, which is worth over £450, was decided by nominations from women within the group and the charity with the most votes was awarded the free membership.

Ellen Bletsoe, of the BDFA, and member of WIBN Kettering has taken the opportunity presented by the charity membership.

"Members at WIBN Kettering have been very supportive with their time and ideas", said Ellen, "It has raised my confidence to talk to people about Battens & raise the awareness, to get people to help with the charity."
