Biography

I trained as a nutritional therapist at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, London, and graduated in 2009. I now practise in Leigh-on-Sea.

My interest in nutrition stems from an experience 20 years ago. I had been suffering from hay fever since I was 12 and then developed chronic eczema when I was in my twenties. My dermatologist predicted that I would probably one day get asthma as well, as the three conditions were related. I was sent on my way with a cream to stop the itching.

A few years later, I went vegetarian, another year on vegan, and it was from that point onwards that I could see my eczema healing, getting better every day. Remembering the doctor's words from a few years earlier, I was curious to see what was going to happen with my hay fever the next spring. It never came back! So, I did some research, wondering whether my changed diet may have something to do with it. A study I found at the time confirmed that 92% of hay fever sufferers improve when omitting cow's milk. This experience, paired with the need to always justify your choices when you are vegan, led me to read up on nutrition and the more I learned, the more fascinated I was. So, eventually I trained as a nutritional therapist to be able to help others change their diets and improve their health.

I never did develop asthma.
