There is never enough time, We always have more things to do and not enough time to do it! Having said that the number of hours in the day are the same for everyone and some people manage okay. Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Einstein they still only had/have 24 hours in a day.
These are a few tips I tell myself….
- Time spent having fun is not wasted
If you are doing an activity that brings you joy or spending time with loved ones, it is not wasted time. Those are the times to cherish as they tend to be few and far between.
- Do the important or difficult or unpleasant things first
Don’t wait for things to become urgent and stress you out. Each day try and earmark the things that will make the week run smoother/better etc and make a start.
If something is difficult or unpleasant because you don’t like doing it, cross it off the list quickly so it is out of the way. Otherwise you will dread this task for days to come and it will appear even harder.
- Get up earlier (if you can)
If you can get up earlier by even half an hour, it is amazing what you can achieve in that time. If that stresses you out, don’t bother. I am a morning person so it works for me.
- Exercise, Meditate, Breathe, Pray
Whatever keeps you centred. For some people, a run focuses their mind, some people pray first thing, some meditate or practise deep breathing. Once you are centred, your productivity increases.
- Do you need to do everything?
If you can find someone else to do something that saves you time and effort, go for it!
Make sure each day you achieve the tasks that make the day better, the week better etc…You know when you are wasting time so focus on what is a priority.
- Tomorrow will be better!
Reflect on your day at the end of the day. Be grateful for the day and what was achieved and then reflect on what could be better and feed that into tomorrow. Tomorrow will be better!
