It’s that time of year! The shops are playing Christmas carols, more decorations in the shops and lots of food around. I was going to say mince pies and Christmas pudding but that is mainly a UK thing…
Let us spare some thoughts for the people for whom Christmas is not a joyous occasion. If you live in a war zone or have escaped one, you may not be having a good Christmas or conversely, it is good because you are alive and you know so many people who aren’t.
Christmas is a special time for children as they love all the decorations and presents and Santa Claus (if you are still young enough to believe).
Spare a thought for all the children without parents, children of parents that do not care for them for whatever reason, parents of missing children, parents whose children have passed away.
People who want children and can’t have them, Christmas is particularly hard.
Spare a thought to be grateful for what you have and help someone in need if you can. Christmas is more about giving than receiving so if you are able to give your time, thoughts or resources in any way at Christmas, please do.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, happy holidays!
