Biography

I started SPLAT training after being at home with my child for 2 years. I was an intrepid new business owner and I’ve never looked back I just love working for myself.

Outdoor expertise
My interest in all things outdoors came from my dad and started young at Hell Hole rocks (Heptonstall) and Kebs (Bridestones). We holidayed in the lake district every year or Scotland, I have countless midgy memories of Scottish camping trips. By the age of 20 I knew I had to work outside and went to Calderdale college where began a really happy career in the outdoor industry.
Before becoming a mum, I worked as a teacher in a Public Services Department of an FE college delivering a range of subjects including Outdoor Pursuits, Citizenship and First Aid. I’d been an outdoor pursuits instructor for 14 years and studied Outdoor and Environmental Education at Uni.
I now work with the Duke of Edinburgh award and I freelance at a variety of outdoor centres delivering climbing sessions, orienteering, hill walking and sometimes even water sports.

First Aid Skills
I did my first First Aid course with St Johns Ambulance Brigade in Todmorden at the age of 8 and I have kept my skills current ever since.
I am now a Qualsafe accredited centre, I undergo rigorous Internal and external Quality assurance processes and I attend regular conferences, talk to other trainers and keep up to date through e-learning opportunities too. I am also very lucky to freelance for Meditrain a nationally recognised company with a fantastic reputation within the First aid industry; Josette and Griff are excellent trainers and highly knowledgeable, they give me lots of CPD opportunities.
