Rosemary Kearney

Data Protection Consultant

WIBN Groups

My passion for data protection stems from its origins as a fundamental human right. I have worked for nearly 20 years in the community and voluntary sector, directly with vulnerable client groups as well implementing robust data protection structures at organisational level.

A key cornerstone of my practice is to educate people on the value of data protection in both their personal and professional lives. I also encourage critical thinking about the ethics of our digital environment and the changing concepts of privacy as technology evolves.

My work has shown me that when people understand the legislation not as a compliance system but rather a method to protect and empower them as data subjects, data protection moves from a chore to something they feel passionate about. This in turn results in higher quality structures and greater commitment to achieving and maintaining legislative compliance.
