In 2011, after a number of personal losses, Sarah gave up her 25 year career as a Parliamentary PA and became a hospice volunteer. She has since become an Ambassador or Patron of a number of Hertfordshire charities including Garden House Hospice Care, Tilehouse Counselling, The Hertfordshire Community Foundation and The Anne Robson Trust (ART) which was set up to provide compassionate care at the end of life in general hospitals. She strongly believes that everyone deserves access to support at the end of life.

The Stevenage-based Anne Robson Trust works in partnership with acute NHS Trusts to develop teams of ‘end of life’ volunteers (known as Butterflies) who support dying patients and provide companionship and support to them and their loved ones when they need it most, believing that \'no-one should die alone\'. The Trust also offers support by telephone, through online resources and with free online \'Time to Talk\' workshops.

Sarah has been an enthusiastic WIBN member across the Hitchin, Letchworth & Baldock and Stevenage groups since 2014 and is currently a member of the Stevenage group proudly voluntarily representing ART thanks to the generous sponsorship of Financial Advisers Canter Holland ( She is passionate about the causes which she champions, feels privileged to represent them and is a relentless fundraiser! Sarah would love to hear from anyone interested in supporting ART through sponsorship, fundraising or volunteering.

Sarah is married to Alastair. She lost her first daughter Olivia shortly after birth but has one daughter and two stepdaughters, all 22, and lives between rural Hertfordshire and the beautiful Brecon Beacons where she was brought up.
