Giving back during lockdown – Andrea Mappouridis from Revitalaser

Andrea Mappouridis, award-winning Director of Revitalaser Skin Care Clinic, Heswall, and WIBN Cheshire member has found a new way of combating those lockdown blues.

Revitalaser has been closed for several weeks now under the third lockdown. So, Andrea decided to use her skills and expertise to help young people living with disability and long-term health conditions. She did this by helping them to discover how they could have healthy skin through eating the right kind of foods.

Working with local charity Disability Positive, she has been talking to young people aged between nine and 25 years via a Zoom link. Discussing why fruit and vegetables are important to skin health and to highlight the damage which poor nutrition causes.

Andrea commented “It was fantastic working with Disability Positive, who have told me the young people really enjoyed the presentation and were fully engaged with total concentration for a full hour!   I have been asked to give another talk later this year”.

She continued “I felt as if I wanted to use my 30 years experience as a skincare specialist to give something back to the community”.   My ultimate vision would be to help everyone emerge from lockdown with healthy, glowing skin!”

Andrea would welcome enquiries from other groups who may be interested in her presentation.

Disability Positive (formerly Cheshire Centre for Independent Living) provides services, opportunities and a voice to children and adults living with disability and long-term health conditions, and their families.

As a charity run by and for their users, Disability Positive always welcome enthusiastic volunteers, who will benefit from role-specific training as well as gaining new skills. Full details can be found at Volunteer Opportunities – Disability Positive
