I don’t know if you’re familiar with This Girl Can, a really incredible campaign fighting the stigmas around active women and women in sport? We, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, have partnered up with the campaign and want to really champion it. So, we’re getting together a team of 150 women that want to run in the British 10k this July 12th as a part of this army of women on Team This Girl Can.

The British 10k is spectacular. Just imagine yourself running on a 10k route, surrounded by 150 women and girls, all on your team, passing Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street. You run over Westminister bridge, and together you run past the London Eye and a host of other iconic spots on the run’s route. It’s going to be a very powerful experience.

What our aim is, is to get 150 women together for an all-girls team to race as one on the day.

By supporting Laureus, all women’s’ efforts are going specifically to the programs Laureus funds around young girls in sports. Laureus funds 150 projects in 35 countries at the moment and we have some that are specifically geared around female empowerment, gender equality, and increasing female participation and access to sport in the areas of the world they’re in. At Laureus 100% of all raised goes directly to our projects.

We’re also bringing in some top female athletes to run sessions specifically for the women in an all-girls opportunity with female running coaches too. A really intimate opportunity to build relationships with other female runners too. We’re throwing in some other stuff too:

  • Exclusive Training Dayswith Laureus sporting celebrities
  • Mizuno technical running vest or t-shirt
  • Bespoke training and nutrition plans
  • Weekly training and motivational emails
  • Support on the day from the Laureus team
  • Exclusive area pre/post race for runners, friends and family
  • Personalised fundraising support and ideas

All that said, by design, this is really meant to be by women, for women, supporting women. The great irony is that in this case, I am not a woman. Go figure. People can sign up here to join the team :
