It is well documented that those companies who invest in their brand and their marketing during a recession sustain a much stronger growth coming out of them.

Remember that you are your brand. You should keep yourself out there so you are consistently front of mind with your audiences and ideal client. Let people know that you are still trading and what you can offer them now and will continue to. Maintain your credibility and professionalism, remaining positive as best you can with clients. People will be looking to you to reassure them and for how you make them feel. Be sensitive with your pricing. Consider how your current pricing will transition to the ‘new world’.


Reach and engage with new audiences. The various online platforms, such as Zoom or Go To, provide easier access to communicate with our clients and make new connections. It is likely that when the situation returns to ‘business as usual’ that we will continue to retain these new clients who are geographically or demographically unreachable face to face. As well as continuing to manage your relationships with existing and potential clients.

Online networking is one of the most effective marketing tools you can use to make new connections and build relationships. Networking also provides the opportunity for you to continue being front of mind and sustain your brand. Try to make time to join the many networking events that are available online, most are free. Spend a little more time when preparing for networking, whether that be your appearance or what you want to say about yourself and your business.

There are many different types of marketing that you could be doing. I know that some business owners are working with their designers to create new websites or update existing ones. As well as producing online and printed marketing materials and business cards. Also, now is the time to write those blogs you never get round to.
